As a leader in global glass packaging solutions, Zibo Creative Glass is committed to keeping our partners informed about the evolving regulatory landscape in China.
Recently, the Chinese Ministry of Finance and the State Administration of Taxation announced a significant shift in fiscal policy: Effective April 1st, 2026, the VAT Export Tax Rebate for various glass products, including glass containers and bottles, has been officially abolished.
For decades, the export tax rebate (ranging from 9% to 13%) has allowed Chinese manufacturers to offer highly competitive pricing globally. The removal of this rebate represents a direct increase in the net cost for exporters.
While this change poses a challenge for the industry’s pricing structure, it also signals a strategic shift toward high-value, sustainable manufacturing. At Zibo Creative Glass, we view this as an opportunity to further enhance our service quality and production efficiency.

We fully recognize that price stability is paramount to your brand planning—particularly for spirits and beverage companies with extended product production cycles. To mitigate the impact of current market conditions, we are actively optimizing our internal supply chain. We are committed to absorbing a portion of the increased costs ourselves, thereby ensuring that any final price adjustments passed on to our clients are kept to an absolute minimum.

The global glass industry is entering a new era of "Quality over Volume." While the days of ultra-low-cost glass exports are transitioning, our commitment to craftsmanship—as seen in our recent 16-month bespoke project for the New Zealand spirits market—remains unchanged.
We believe that a premium product deserves a premium partner. We will continue to navigate these policy changes alongside you, ensuring that your brand’s packaging remains both stunning and commercially viable.
